Terms of Use
1. About Frisson Map
Frisson Map ("we," "us," "the app") is a non-commercial fan project for the community around Tarja Turunen. It's run by Petra, a private individual based in the Czech Republic. It was created independently and is not affiliated with Tarja Turunen, her management, or her label.
2. Who can use it
Anyone can browse the public map. But to add anything — leave an Echo (including anonymously) or create an account — you must be at least 16 years old. For an anonymous Echo you confirm this with a checkbox right in the form; for an account, at registration.
By using Frisson Map you confirm that you meet this age requirement and that you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy.
3. What you can add
You may use the app to:
- Leave an Echo marking your fan presence — a nickname, an avatar, and a short comment.
- Optionally state your nationality on an anonymous Echo (it shows as a small flag labeled "self-stated by the author, anonymously"). It's just a community signal and isn't used in any public statistic. For how the data is handled, see Privacy Policy §2.1.
- Edit or delete your own Echoes (when signed in).
- Group your related Echoes under a single marker on the map (a "Journal") and optionally open it to others as a shared "Gathering."
- Suggest online events (livestreams, listening parties, Q&As) when signed in. Suggestions go through moderator review and may be edited or removed.
- Suggest concerts and tour dates from official sources (tour page, festival announcement, venue page). Every suggestion must include a source URL; suggestions go through moderator review.
- Choose a cover image for an event from the built-in Openverse photo picker. It only returns Creative Commons–licensed images (CC0, CC BY, CC BY-SA, public domain). Attribution (photographer, license, link to source) is added automatically and shown with the event — you may not remove it. By choosing an image you confirm you're using it in line with its license.
- Pre-fill an event description with our built-in search helpers (Wikipedia, Tarja's official site, an AI summarizer, and other public sources — details in Privacy Policy §4). Results are a starting point you can edit — AI text is marked with the ✦ symbol, may contain errors, and you're responsible for what you publish.
- Confirm attendance at an event when signed in.
- Rate album songs with stars and like Echoes and events when signed in. Ratings are used only in aggregate; see Privacy Policy §2.2.
- Report Echoes that break these terms.
4. What you may not add
You agree not to use the app to post or share:
- Content that is hateful, threatening, harassing, or discriminatory.
- Content that is sexual or violent in a way unsuitable for a general audience.
- Other people's personal data without their consent (real names, addresses, phone numbers, etc.).
- Advertising or links to malware.
- Anything illegal under Czech or EU law.
- Anything that infringes third parties' intellectual property rights.
- Off-topic content. Frisson Map is a space for Tarja's music and this community. Echoes, events, or places that have nothing to do with that may be removed — not as punishment, just to keep the map what it is.
- Spam — repeated, duplicate, or purely promotional posts.
And one more thing: automated, bulk, or excessive use. To keep things fair and to stop spam, the app has reasonable daily limits (on posting and on AI-assisted search). Automated or abusive traffic may be limited or blocked.
Even if some content is technically legal, we reserve the right to remove anything that, in our judgment, harms the community.
5. Moderation
Echoes can be reported with the Report button. Reports go to moderators for manual review. A moderator can dismiss the report (the Echo stays), delete the Echo, or — if the offending content comes from a registered account — ban its author.
Reported Echoes stay visible until they're reviewed. We handle clear violations as quickly as a hobby project realistically can, but we don't guarantee a response time. Reports are anonymous from the moderation side: moderators see what was reported, but not who reported it. (For reports from signed-in users, the identity is stored internally in case the Report function is abused — detail in Privacy Policy §8.)
Every moderator action (deletion, dismissal, ban, unban) is written to an internal audit log with a written reason, so admins can oversee moderators. We keep the rows for as long as the project runs; the personal identifiers in them are set to NULL once the referenced account is deleted (see Privacy Policy §5).
What moderation can do. To keep the map accurate and friendly, moderators may act on their own initiative, not only on a report. Specifically, we may: remove or hide content that breaks these terms or is off-topic; edit factual details of community-suggested concerts, tours, and places (date, place, description) so the data on the map stays correct; and approve or reject suggestions under review. Your personal Echoes are yours — we don't rewrite them; we only remove them if they break the rules.
Two small things: hosts of a Gathering (a Journal opened to others) can manage who joins it, including blocking someone. And the Report button is for real problems — repeatedly abusing it can get you banned.
5.1 Bans
If a moderator bans your account for breaking these terms, the ban is one of these lengths:
- 1 day
- 3 days
- 7 days
- 30 days
- Permanent
During a ban you can still:
- Sign in and read the reason and the ban's end date.
- Read the public map.
- Download your data (right of access).
- Delete your account (right to erasure).
During a ban you cannot:
- Leave new Echoes.
- Like Echoes or events.
- Confirm attendance at events.
- Suggest events or tour dates.
- Report content (the Report button).
- Edit or delete content you added before the ban (other than deleting your whole account).
- Or, generally, add or edit any content or profile settings.
A moderator can lift a ban early if circumstances warrant. Bans are recorded in our database for audit purposes; see Privacy Policy §2.6.
6. Your account
You're responsible for keeping your login details safe. Don't share
your password. If you suspect your account has been misused, email
info@frissonmap.com and change your password right
away.
You can delete your account anytime from your profile. When you delete it, we'll ask whether to delete your Echoes along with the account or leave them on the map anonymized — with anonymization, your nickname is replaced with "Anonymous" and the Echo is no longer linked to you. Deleting your account also removes your identity from Amazon Cognito (the service that manages sign-in), including any "Continue with Google" link. Signing up again works like any new account — nothing carries over from the deleted profile. For what happens to the rest of your data, see Privacy Policy §2.
7. Availability and "as is"
Frisson Map is offered as is, free of charge, with no service-level guarantee. We may take the app down temporarily for maintenance, or permanently if we decide to end the project. Before a permanent shutdown we'll give registered users reasonable notice by email where possible.
To the maximum extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties (express or implied) and are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
8. Intellectual property
- Rights to the comments and content you post stay yours, but you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display them on the map — and to create and display a machine translation of them for readers in their own language — for as long as your Echo exists.
- The avatar gallery (these are AI illustrations), the app's code, and its design belong to us.
- Tarja Turunen's name, her music, and her trademarks are the property of their respective rights holders. Frisson Map is fan content and is not endorsed by them.
- Fans may share links (for example to livestreams or discussions). We don't control and aren't responsible for the content on external sites those links lead to — opening them is at your discretion.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms over time; the "Last updated" date at the top always shows the most recent change. We judge what counts as a material change in good faith — if it affects your rights or how we handle your data, we'll let registered users know by email. If you keep using the app after a change, that means you accept the updated terms; if you don't agree with them, you can delete your account anytime.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Czech Republic. Any disputes that can't be resolved amicably will be heard by the competent Czech courts.
